Underwater Volcano in West Indies May Erupt Soon

Earthquakes around an active underwater volcano named Kick'em Jenny off the coast of the island of Grenada have locals worried as they also notice more gas bubbles rising to the surface of the ocean this month. The volcano is located 5 miles away from the island but the real danger is the volcanic gas and matter could heat up the surrounding waters to 302 degrees Fahrenheit which could pose a danger to boats coming to and going away from the island. The volcano has erupted over a dozen times since its discovery in 1939 and most recently in 2001.

Mauna Loa (meaning "Long Mountain") is the largest volcano on Earth! It is located in Hawaii and takes up the majority of the island it is located on. It is 4km above sea level, and last erupted in 1984 although it has 33 recorded eruptions in the past. The gentle slopes indicate lava that takes a more liquid form, allowing it to travel quickly down the slopes before it cools. Some signs have indicated that Mauna Loa might be starting to reawaken, indicating an eruption sometime in the near future!
