Vilayanur S. Ramachandran

Vilayanur Subramanian Ramachandran (born August 10, 1951) is a neuroscientist known primarily for his work in the fields of behavioral neurology and visual psychophysics. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Graduate Program in Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego.

This is a fascinating video in which Ramachandran explains a "neurological theory of artistic experience." The video is a perfect example of his charismatic and engaging speaking as well as his neurological expertise. Particularly interesting to me are his explanations as to how metaphors are created and why people like abstract art.
