Therianthropy is the mythological ability of human beings to metamorphose into other animals by means of shapeshifting. It is possible that cave drawings found at Les Trois Frères, in France, depict ancient beliefs in the concept. The most well known form of therianthropy is found in stories concerning werewolves.

In actuality, therianthropy is nearly a religion these days. It is the belief that while someone may take a human form, they are more animal than human. In my personal case, I believe that I do in fact have a wolf soul or wolf 'side'. Many therianthropes experience different 'shifts' such as a mental shift in which the mind shifts in a mode that acts more feral than human. There is also a shift called a phantom shift or 'p-shift' for short; in this shift, a person can physically feel and possibly see the faint outline of their animal's limbs in place of their own. While others may not see them, many times they can be felt by peripheral receptors.
