Theatre

Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performers, typically actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance. Elements of art, such as painted scenery and stagecraft such as lighting are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience. The specific place of the performance is also named by the word "theatre" as derived from the Ancient Greek θέατρον (théatron, "a place for viewing"), itself from θεάομαι (theáomai, "to see", "to watch", "to observe").

Theater has been around for many years. There are many different types of theater as well, like Greek Theater. The Greek theater history began with festivals honoring their gods. Tragedy, comedy, and satyr plays were the theatrical forms. Thespis is considered to be the first Greek "actor" and originator of tragedy.

Theatre has entertained the masses while still being relatable as well. It amuses as well as fills the viewer with tears and sorrow and pain. It's meant to take the watcher out their world and into another by way of art through the many forms such as dance, song and poems as well as action such as fighting.

The very first person to take a step forward and speak memorized lines was the famous Greek actor Thespis! Today, The realm of theater acknowledges this great step in the world of theater through our worldwide theater society called the ITS or International Thespian Society. High School Students from all around the globe acknowledge themselves proudly as Thespians, in his honor.
