I was born in 1992 where TLC just exploded onto the scene with their creative and empowering first single: “What about your friends?” I listened to it now and the chorus and message has given me a new insight to how we select and choose our “friends” in our social media accounts and in our real daily life. The chorus is simply sung: “What about your friends? Will they stand their ground? Will they let you down again? What about your friends? Are they gonna be low down? Will they ever be around? Or will they turn their backs on you?” This simple chorus grew questions onto how we in this day and age are fooled to what “friends” we have in our lives. It seemed to draw me into a simple question. What is a friend? How do we define it?
