The United States suicide rate is so high, because people do not want to believe that something is wrong with them, or their child. People like this drive mentally ill people to suicide. Having a mental illness does not mean that anything is wrong with you; it does not mean that you are different or bad. Everyone struggles with their own problems; but some are more serious than others. By neglecting our children’s mental health, we might as well be killing them ourselves. Telling yourself that your child is mentally sane, when they are not, is only hurting them and making their lives harder. If parents would just take a minute to talk with their children, to ask them how they are doing, suicide rates would drop tremendously.

this goes out to anybody who is feeling like there is no hope left. taking your life away isn't the way to solve it. just because you won't feel pain anymore doesn't mean that your family and loved ones won't. they will feel it forever. you'll get through this, i promise, i did.

This is a photo of my brother and his daughter. My brother killed himself in 2007. It was so unexpected. He was so outgoing and had so many friends...but he lived a hard life. He battled drug addiction which led him into getting into trouble He was in and out of prison. Just when things were starting to seem like they were getting better, he gave up hope. I miss him very much and always will. Suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem. I will never understand why he did it, but just hope he is finally at peace
