A study found men and women who ate at least 10 grams of peanuts or nuts per day have a lower risk of dying from several major causes of death such as diabetes, cancer or heart disease than people who don't consume them. Researchers in the Netherlands found that peanuts and tree nuts both contain vitamins, fibers, antioxidants and compounds that might contribute to the lower death rates. Unfortunately you can't get the same effects from eating peanut butter though due to salt and trans-fatty acids
