Only child

An only child is a person with no siblings, either biological or adopted. The term only child is generally applied only to those individuals who have never had siblings. An only child, however, may have half-siblings or stepsiblings who come along considerably late and still be considered an only child. Children with much older or younger siblings (generally ten or more years) may also have a similar family environment to only children.

I am my mom's only child but I'm number 4 for my dad. My brother & sisters are so much older that their kids are my age or older so I was raised an only child. I would have liked to have siblings closer to my age.

I am the only child. My mom only had me, but my dad has five kids including me. Being the only child isn't fun to me.
