The microphone was first invented in June of 1877. Since then, the microphone has allowed played a large role in famous speeches, sermons, debates, addresses, etc. The microphone, though now an after-thought, is instrumental in giving a powerful speech. Famous speeches, given by great leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s and John F. Kennedy, would not have been possible without the use of a microphone. Nowadays, the microphone is used in many applications, including karaoke systems, telephones, hearing aids, etc. They are used by the police to wire-tap suspects also. Lastly, it allows concert performers to sing in front of large audiences. All in all, the microphone has had a large, but basically unnoticed, impact on the world.
