Visual Encyclopedia

A librarian is a person who works professionally in a library, providing access to information and sometimes social or technical programming. In addition, librarians provide instruction on information literacy. In the United States and Canada, they are usually required to hold a graduate degree from a library school such as a Master's degree in Library Science or another equivalent qualification such as a Master's of Library and Information Studies.

Flavor Wire has a compilation of some awesome images of librarians in action. Love number 6--that would be me reaching for the top shelf while balancing on the lower level of card catalogue drawers! It's amazing the devotion these individuals have. I can think of some librarians who would never take the time to dust their books like those shown here. But I can also think of a good number who would dust and polish their books. Those are the true librarians of the world.
