Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and United States military bases across the world. The program was originally created as part of the National Defense Act of 1916 and later expanded under the 1964 ROTC Vitalization Act.

JROTC is one of the most prioritized core for me. JROTC is unlike any other class obviously but what is often not thought about is life teachings. In our unit, (AFJROTC NC-011), learning goes beyond drill, aerospace, and military custom. We are taught life skills, we are taught things that other teachers don't cover, we are taught the matter of life. I have often found myself thinking of all the advice our SASI and ASI have taught us. Topics like world economy, and how we are competing against the most competitive kids in Europe and Asia, and how America has become lazy. We are taught to keep pushing, keep learning, we are given the motivation needed to better ourselves. We are often taught things that our parent's don't teach us, for some of us like me, our SASI and ASI have become second-parents. The importance of JROTC to our school systems is huge, it should never end.
