Nara Park is the most iconic sight for Japanese citizens and tourists. Nara Park, as the name suggests, is a beautiful park with wondrous architecture, plant life, and even sika deer. The deer have been residents of the park for hundreds of years. They are considered a sacred animal. Wherever you go a deer is in sight often eating grass, or lying in the sun. There is nothing to fear from the deer; they are not like most deer that will run away upon sighting a human or try to defend themselves. The deer are used to human's presence and even contact; the animals have even learned to mimic humans, bowing when someone bows at them. Around Nara Park there are many stores where you can buy deer crackers to feed the animals.
