There is a lot of controversy over the ending of Inception. Does the top topple or continue to spin? Is Cobb actually in reality? Let us review what we know, shall we? In the beginning of the movie, Cobb mentions that the top is not actually his totem. It is Mal's. Well, if it's not his totem, it will not work for him. So what is his totem? His wedding ring. Whenever Cobb is dreaming, he has a wedding ring on because, as he says, in his dreams, they're still together. In reality he does not wear a ring. So what about the last scene of the movie? Cobb is not wearing a ring. Therefore, he is in reality.
