Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism, also called underactive thyroid or low thyroid, is a disorder of the endocrine system in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Untreated hypothyroidism during pregnancy can lead to delays in growth and intellectual development in the baby, which is called cretinism.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 5 years ago. It has been the most irritating medical issue in my life. Even though I take thyroid hormones, I still have most of the symptoms. I had no idea anything was even wrong with me until my doctor asked me why I had been so tired all the time! I couldn't even go out and do anything for more than 2 hours before I'd have to lay down. I'm still pretty low on energy even with the medication! My advice to anyone that with the following symptoms is to simply go to your doctor and get checked out! It's a miserable disease to have, but can definitely be helped with medicine. Symptoms include : Low energy Anxiety Weight gain Sensitivity to the cold Mood swings Makes you more suseptible to diabetes
