High jump

The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern most practised format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. In the modern era, athletes run towards the bar and use the Fosbury Flop method of jumping, leaping head first with their back to the bar. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form.

A video guide on how to train for the high jump by a high school student with experience in high jumps. That guy can skip pretty high, it's no wonder he's good at jumping at, you know, six feet. Dude.

Sophomore year at Yale High, I was a High jump BEAST! My personal record in competition was 5'1" and in practice I had jumped 5'6". I have the freshman record under my belt and all was good and dandy until Junior year...BOOM! I tore my ACL ( a ligament in my knee). I was out for the rest of the season and had 9 MONTHS of rehabilitation. The picture on the right is my highjump action from 2013. My average jump so far is only 4'8", but im glad to be back in the game and able to jump! My goal for this year is to be able to jump at least 4'11" if not 5'!!! Like for support :) Thanks! ~Laurenakus
