Naïve Bald Guy

Some people just don't get it.

Why do men go bald more often than women?

Baldness is a recessive sex-linked trait and is carried and passed only on the X chromosome. Women have two X chromosomes while men have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. In order for baldness to occur in women, both of a woman's X chromosomes must carry the baldness trait because it is a recessive trait. Men, however, only have one X chromosome, so as long as their one X chromosome carries the baldness trait, baldness will occur. Therefore, men have a greater chance of going bald than women. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, "A man can more accurately predict his chances of developing male pattern baldness by observing his mother's father than by looking at his own father."
