Graduation is getting a diploma or academic degree or the ceremony that is sometimes associated with it, in which students become graduates. Before the graduation, candidates are referred to as graduands. The date of graduation is often called graduation day. The graduation ceremony itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. Normally, the ceremony and name apply to high school and above (the next ascending levels being Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate). In the United States of America, graduations for elementary school or even Kindergarten have been a fad of recent years. When ceremonies are associated, they usually include a procession of the academic staff and candidates and a valediction. At the college and university level the faculty will usually wear academic dress at the formal ceremonies, as will the trustees and degree candidates.

The second best thing after family is friends. They support and help you in times of need and join you in moments of happiness and joy. It was my pleasure to graduate last Month with my friends, some whom I just got to know this year, some whom I just got closer this year, and some i've known longer. WE are going to go our separate ways but I know that our friendship will stay within our hearts forever. Not only did we experience the greatest feeling of joy, knowing that we have survive and are graduating but also the greatest feeling of creating that one of the most important moment in our life with the friends we owe ourselves to. Hmmm, I wonder.. this must be what they call the "Best Feeling!"

After many long nights of cramming for tests, and numerous weekend coffee runs and giggles and inside jokes and AP classes and ACT preparations and leading meetings and extra credit work, the time has finally come. The time that some dread but most have been longing for, for 12 years. All our work and all the long nights paid off and it's our time. Until we go off to college and back to high school all over again, but this time we're on our own. It's a scary thought, but it's a privilege. So congrats to everyone in my same boat.

As an only child I thought I'd never get to experience what it's like to have a sibling, but you turned out to be just like the older sister I always wanted. I'm really going to miss your perkiness, positivity, and quirky life advice, but I know you've got a bright future and UNCW is more than lucky to have you!

12 years of hard work, endless nights staying up late doing homework, stressful test, exams, test, getting new teachers, facing peer pressure, trying to fit in spent just for this day, for me to walk and receive a piece of paper. It was so worth it, and I cant wait to see what the future holds.
