Girls' Generation

Girls' Generation also known as SNSD, is a South Korean girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment. The group is composed of eight members: Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. Originally a nine-piece group (with Jessica, who later departed from the group in September 2014). Girls' Generation debuted in 2007 with their Korean eponymous debut album. Though the album gained some attention, it was not until 2009 that the group rose to fame with the single "Gee", which claimed the top spot on KBS's Music Bank for a record-breaking nine consecutive weeks and was named the most popular song of the 2000s in South Korea by Melon. Girls' Generation further consolidated their popularity on the South Korean music scene with follow-up singles "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)", "Oh!", and "Run Devil Run", which were released in mid-2009 and early 2010.

Pink Ocean

The Pink Ocean refers to the blocks of pink made by SONEs' lights. In KPOP each idol group has a color that their fans use to show their support. For SNSD that color is pink so during performances SONEs hold up pink glow sticks and do fan chants (usually made by the SNSD's label). For SONEs the Pink Ocean has a special meaning because of the black ocean incident of 2008 (super crazy and should be a topic in and of itself). In a huge concert with the KPOP's biggest idol groups, all of the fans from the other groups planned to turn of their lights and not cheer while SNSD performed. Why? Holy shizzle- a lot of reasons; the main point is that both sides were at fault but the black ocean was super harsh. Now SNSD is arguably the biggest Kpop group and so for SONEs its kind of like a big pride thing to show how strong the fandom is and how far SNSD has come.

SONE means wish in Korean and it was one of the songs in their first album (mini-album?? idk). Basically if you love SNSD then you are a SONE :)

Hello there normal person this is SNSD's first performance, in Korea it's called a debut stage (easy enough). This song ("Into the New World") introduced SNSD to the Kpop world. Since you're probably normal (as I once was ;) you might be thinking 2 things 1. Why are the skirts so short??? That's so creepy/pervy!!! Accept it and focus on the dancing 2. Holy Shizzle Bottoms THEY CAN DANCE AND SING Yes SNSD is known for the perfectly in synch dancing (youtube "Genie" O.o ) and the girl who did the awesome dance break? that's Hyoyeon, if you're not into the cutesy shtuff (like old me) just youtube "Hyoyeon dancing" and be amazed :) To finsih off. Are there better performances of this song? Yes (I will post my fave) but this is the moment that started it all and if you're a fan (like moi) it has a special place in your heart.
