Flight is the process by which an object moves through an atmosphere (or beyond it, as in the case of spaceflight) without contact with the surface. This can be achieved by generating aerodynamic lift associated with propulsive thrust, aerostatically using buoyancy, or by ballistic movement.

Solar Plane Lands in Hawaii After Record-Breaking Flight

A plane named The Solar Impulse 2 powered by solar energy landed in Hawaii today at 5:55 am local time after a record-breaking 5-day journey across the Pacific Ocean from Japan. Swiss pilot Andre Borschberg set the record for the world's longest nonstop solo flight. This concluded the final and longest stretch of a 7 leg circumnavigation of the globe.

Airplanes that land

Most people don't know, but when an aircraft lands, before the gear touch the ground the airplane is stalled and is falling. The airflow over and under the wings become inefficiencient and cannot keep the aircraft flying.
