While watching Dollhouse I tried to figure out how the LA house chose names for their actives. Initially I had thought Echo was named for the Muse in Greek Mythology. While that reference could still connect to her character, I realized that the names were actually chose through the NATO alphabet: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliett, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Whiskey, Xray, Yankee, Zulu However, I think that each house may use its own form of naming, because in the episode where Topher travels to the DC Dollhouse, the two actives mentioned there are Hades and Aphrodite which suggests they are named after Greek Gods and Goddesses.
