Cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine. Long-term issues include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus as a result of frequent lung infections. Other signs and symptoms may include sinus infections, poor growth, fatty stool, clubbing of the fingers and toes, and infertility in some males. Different people may have different degrees of symptoms.

Every year wherever there is a major CF center the Cystic Fibrosis Foundations holds a walk to raise money and to raise awareness for CF. The money raised it put towards the study and development of more drugs.Every year they are getting closer and closer to find a cure, because currently there is not one. There is a medicine in the third trial phase being tested that could put a lot of the symptoms at bay and reverse some of the damage done to the lungs.
