Corruption

Corruption is a form of dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, often to acquire personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement, though it may also involve practices that are legal in many countries. Government, or 'political', corruption occurs when an office-holder or other governmental employee acts in an official capacity for personal gain.

In The USA following the financial crisis corruption in the financial sector has received significant attention. Political corruption has been a long-running issue. In spite of these setbacks the US maintains extensive anti-corruption legislation with a very decentralized structure. No country had a perfect score on Transparency International's annual survey of perceived corruption but Denmark came the closest with 92/100. We have a lot of improvement we have to do, especially if we want to be ranked higher than countries like Canada!
