While humans have 3 phototrecepters (red, blue, and green), mantis shrimp have 16, allowing them to see infrared, UV and polarized light! Their eyes are separated in to three parts, giving the ‘trinocular vision’ and the ability to move their pupil independently.

Different cultures have different names for colors and they often have less names and identifications of color than English-speakers. For example a culture might have words for only "white", "black", and "red" and anything that's not black or white is considered to be "red" which would totally confuse an American.
