A win is a win in every sport but college football. For example, Auburn University dropped 12 points in the rankings after barely winning their game last weekend.

Regional identity of college football

Go Dawgs! Hook 'em horns! Wooo pig! Hail to the victors! No matter where one lives, he/she is easily identified by a football team. Each state and region has their own traditions whether its playing like a champion today or touching the rock running down the hill at Death Valley. Football is more that a game- its a lifestyle. Everyone embraces the players as brothers. When they win, celebration occurs. After a bitter defeat, tear fall. The faithful continue to support their team and the traditions of a Saturday on the gridiron, wherever that may be.

Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant was one of the best football coaches ever. He led the Alabama to 6 national titles and 13 conference championships in the sixties and seventies. He was known for his houndstooth hat and being an exceptional leader by making his players better men. “Losing doesn’t make me want to quit. It makes me want to fight that much harder.” “If anything goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That’s all it takes to get people to win football games for you." “If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit – you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.”
