Adenosine is a neurotransmitter that is affected by caffeine. Caffeine basically makes your adrenal glands to release Adenosine which is your "Fight or Flight" hormone. Because of the "Flight or Flight" hormones, your heart will speed up and you feel awake. Next time you drink coffee to stay awake, remember that you're in a way interning "Fight or Flight".

Coffee is good for you. In fact, women who drink four to five cups a day of Coffee are 34 percent less likely to die of heart disease than those women who drink no coffee. Whereas men who drink five cups are 44 percent less likely to die of heart disease than men who drink no coffee.
