Carboplatin

Carboplatin, sold under the trade name Paraplatin among others, is a chemotherapy medication used to treat a number of forms of cancer.

Side effects generally occur.

Carboplatin was patented in 1972 and approved for medical use in 1986. It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system. The wholesale cost in the developing world is about 26.49 to 37.37 USD per 450 mg vial. In the United Kingdom that amount costs the National Institute of Health (NIH) about 160 pounds (around 200 USD).
