The reason English Bulldogs are so expensive is because they cannot give birth naturally, about 95% of the time they will need a C section. Another reason they are so expensive compared to other breeds is because most of the time the female needs to be artificially inseminated. This is because the way the breed is built the male cannot mount the female. Not only does the cost of this add up but the cost of their health problems too. English Bulldogs also have a hard time breathing, just because this is the way they are built. Most English Bulldogs will snore ! There is a surgery to widen the nasal opening. But again, this is expensive and dangerous as anesthesia is always a cause for concern.

English Bulldogs were actually man bred so that they can have the body, strength, and characteristics to fight bulls. For example, their massive underbite helped get a good grip on the bulls and the wrinkles on top of their noses helped drain the bull's blood to the sides, keeping the blood from getting into the bulldog's eyes.
