The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (Gallopin' Gertie as it was soon to be known) is known as one of the most dramatic engineering failures in history. This bridge's collapse helped engineers learn how to better design suspension bridges so that failures like this wouldn't happen. Thankfully, no one died on this bridge, with the exception of one man's dog, who he could not get out of his car which also fell with the bridge.
