Huaynu Picchu

Posted in Machu Picchu

You can climb up that peak behind Machu Picchu, but be in shape. They only let 500 people climb that peak every day and only a certain amount of people can go at a time. It took us an hour to climb up and an hour to climb back down. You have to be 18+ and you can't be overweight or have any life-threatening medical conditions because there is absolutely no way of getting help to you if you are in trouble. There are just the thousand year old narrow stone stairs, steep drop, and a rope railing....it's a hard climb, especially when hot, so be careful...but the view is absolutely beautiful

The mountain peak you see behind the ruins is named Huaynu Picchu. Machu Picchu is Quechua for "old mountain" but Huaynu Picchu is Quechua for "new" or "young mountain". This is a picture of Machu Picchu taken from the top of Huaynu Picchu

Peruvian cuisine includes a lot of starches, more starches than what we would normally put on our plate. Corn, rice, potatoes....and this piece of meat is cuy...guinea pig

Inca Kola, the golden Kola. It tastes like bubble gum to most people...but to me it tastes like Vanilla Mountain Dew. You can find it in Peru, but you can find it online too

This is a meal from Chanchamayo, Peru....in the jungle. It includes pork, fresh vegetables, yuka and a fresh banana ball...I believe it is baked, but it could be fried too. It was very fresh and delicious!

The creation of woman

Posted in Adam and Eve

The Rite of Spring was a ballet that was and still is way ahead of it's time. Three people responsible for this creation...Nijinsky, Stravinsky, and Diaghalev... the choreographer, writer, and producer. This is a film dramatizing the historical event when the ballet premiered in Paris and was not well received by an audience full of Parisians. Some broke into fights, some started a riot, some made cat calls, some laughed, some booed all the way through....but it was what Stravinsky wanted to happen. He wanted it to be an impact.
